UNBELIEVABLE: Real Madrid could lose him if his agent gets his wish
Jorge Mendes is one of football's most powerful agents and he shows it once again
It's rebuilding time at Real Madrid. The Merengue outfit has just won their 14th UEFA Champions League and 35th LaLiga, but president Florentino Pérez knows there's no such thing a perfect squad. While some, like Aurelién Tchouaméni or Antonio Rudiger, are joining the Real Madrid squad, others are, like Gareth Bale or Marcelo, are departing. Now, it's looking more and more like Marco Asensio could be another to add to the departures list.
According to Spanish journalist Antón Meana, Asensio could be departing Real Madrid very soon. The reason is very simple: his agent, Jorge Mendes, has decided so. The former Mallorca player has only one year in his contract, and Mendes wants a bigger contract for the player or he'll look for a move.
So far, the offer Real Madrid had given him was another four years on the same 8 million euros wages (pre-tax) he was on. Mendes is adamant: a better deal or Asensio won't wear again the white shirt of Real Madrid. According to Meana, the agent has decided Asensio won't join Real Madrid for the preseason, in order to force a move away.
In terms of where his destination could be, there are three horses in the race. Leading, it's a head to head between AC Milan and Juventus. Both Italian clubs are interested in the player and could offer the improved deal that Mendes and Asensio want. Behind them, there's an option in the Premier League: Newcastle United.
