Agüero revealed SHOCKING details of Messi's departure from FC Barcelona
The Argentine former striker told how Messi lived the drama of his contract situation during the last days
The European summer market of 2021 left us one of the most shocking movements in the history of football. Lionel Messi arrived in Barcelona, after winning the Copa América with the Argentine National Team, with the intention of extending his contract with the club that developed him as a footballer. However, the unthinkable happened; FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta had to admit that due to the club's economic position they did not have funds to face the renewal, and thus Lionel Messi had to go to Paris Saint Germain.

Although the leaders have sought to justify the departure of one of the institution's greatest idols, alleging that the renewal fell due to the problems that the club had with financial fair play rules, the Culés were never convinced by the position taken by Joan Laporta.
The anger will be even greater, after this revelation of Sergio Kun Agüero, friend and then teammate of Lionel Messi in the Argentine National Team, who remembers how he lived in first person the drama around the renewal of Leo: "[It was] a rather rare farewell for Leo, because we were in the Copa América and he had the Barcelona shirt in his room. Every three or four days he told me 'Well dude, I think I renewed, you're going to have to take a picture of me with the shirt. Let's do it in the afternoon'. When I went to look for him, he told me: 'Not yet'", explained Agüero.
The former Manchester City striker elaborated on how the situation kept repeating itself as the days went by: "Two days later, again: 'Well now, yes, the picture', he took out the shirt, and I told myself 'Come on, just put on your shirt, I'll take your picture and that's it'".
Finally, Agüero recounted his own experience with the renewals, making it clear that the players usually know very little about what happens in those talks: "The players are not to blame, they are responding to the decision of those who have to fix his contract. The truth is only known by the people who are really in the negotiations. The player is not in the negotiations. I did not sit down to negotiate with Manchester City, I do not know what they are talking about there, what happens at that moment. The player has to believe in what they tell you, and unfortunately it is like that with everyone. Some are doing badly, others are doing well", he concluded.
