Netflix to UNLEASH the controversy of Luis Figo's transfer of the century
The streaming service will launch a docuseries covering the transfer that shook Spain and the world
For many, it was the transfer of the century: from being a star and icon of FC Barcelona to play and be the star of Real Madrid in exchange for 62 million euros. Luis Figo was a tipping point in world football from many factors. With his transfer, the values of football, the love for the shirt, the limits of a club with money and many other issues that arose from the decision to leave the Blaugranas to play for los Blancos were questioned.
The case was so resounding that 22 years after that transfer market, Luis Figo presented his series on Netflix set to be released on August 25, where exclusive details of that negotiation will be told, with statements from protagonists such as Figo himself, Pep Guardiola, Florentino Perez, among others.
"So many people have spoken without knowing about the signing but I have the real story because I am the protagonist," says Luis Figo. The documentary, with more than 30 hours of interviews, has the versions of all those involved in the transfer of the Portuguese to Real Madrid.
"Who thinks he is telling the truth?" Florentino Perez is asked during the documentary. "Without a doubt, I am the protagonist. All I am going to tell you is what happened" the Real Madrid president replies.
