Unbelievable! Jack Sparrow FC?
Although Pirate Jack Sparrow has nothing to do with football, the truth is that he has his own professional team
The shield of a team is something that usually distinguishes it nationally and internationally and allows it to create an identity within its followers. Some are cute, some are simpler and some tell the story of the club or where they are from; however, there are others that may have legal problems, such as the logo of Pirata FC, from Peru.
Pirata FC was born on November 15, 2015. The team arose from the initiative of the associates of the company G&B Molinos S.A.C, a company that massively produces rice and, of course, has a lot of money. The name of this "pirate" team was a tribute from the president of the company to his deceased brother. Since there is no third, fourth or fifth division in Peru, the only way to compete professionally in Peru was the Copa Peru. What made this team so "different" was its logo. The team is called Pirata FC and if there is a famous pirate in the world of cinema, it is Jack Sparrow, from Pirates of the Caribbean. So, they decided to use the face of this pirate on the shield and also on the shirt.
Because the team had enough resources, their first participation (Copa Peru 2016) in the tournament was successful. The club managed to be among the best 32, something impressive considering that more than 20,000 teams play in the Copa Peru. In the 2017 season, the team did not participate with the aim of forming a better team for the 2018 season.
The team improved remarkably and thanks to that, they qualified for the national tournament (50 teams), in which they obtained third place. Then he played several games until he managed to be among the best 4 teams in the tournament. In the quadrangular, they beat Santos F. C., Alianza Universidad and Unión Deportivo Ascensión and became champion of the Copa Peru. Thanks to this, Pirata FC earned the right to play in the First Division.
However, there was a problem. The team was afraid that Disney would sue them for using Jack Sparrow, so they sent them a letter asking if they could use the famous pirate. Since they didn't get a response, they decided to change the logo permanently. In the end, they presented the new logo and the team made its professional debut in the 2019 Peruvian First Division. Unfortunately, Pirata FC was relegated to the second division, where it currently plays to date.
