Galtier smiles: He wanted him out and he's off to Turkey
One of the French manager's least favourite players will no longer be part of his squad
"We have to have a common project. Whoever is not willing to be part will have to leave", said Christophe Galtier near the end of the transfer window. It was clear that the manager of Paris Saint Germain wasn't happy that some of his least favourite players hadn't been moved and many took it he was talking about Argentine striker Mauro Icardi. If that was the case, Galtier is surely smiling now.

The former Inter Milan captain never quite hit the ground running at Paris, failling to adapt to was requested of him and occupying a squad player role behind the stars like Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappé and Neymar. Just 38 goals in 92 matches while playing as a striker for the best side in the league looks like a meagre return, and thus PSG was looking to move Icardi, but to no avail... until now.
That's because according to multiple sources the Argentine striker will be travelling to Turkey to close his signing for Galatasaray. The move is reported to be a loan deal for a single season. With Icardi's astronomical wages of 14 million euros per season, it will actually be the Parisian outfit who will pay a majority of that salary, as it was to be expected.
This will be Icardi's fourth professional club in his career, having previously played for Sampdoria, Inter Milan and the aforementioned PSG, while he also played for FC Barcelona's youth teams. It's once again a problematic departure for the Argentine, who left the Blaugranas after failing to adapt to the style of play, and then departed the Nerazzurri after falling out with the fans.
Things never quite clicked for Icardi at PSG
With 173 goals in 344 professional games, it is undoubted that the Argentine knows how to score, but it will remain to be seen if Mauro Icardi can make a home for himself at Galatasary after his struggles at PSG, despite his 50 million euros transfer fee.
