CHOSEN ONE: PSG may already know who their next manager will be
The French club is looking to replace their current manager, and there's only one name at the top of the potential replacements list
Even though Mauricio Pochettino says he choses to remain calm about his chances at staying at the helm of Paris Saint Germain, the writing is on the wall for the Argentine manager and it's looking like his time as head coach of the French champions is measured in days or even hours.
However, who his replacement would be was a highly debated topic. First it was assumed the Parisian club would go after former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane, with some sources even claiming he was the favourite of the Emir of Qatar for the job. However, news have stayed cold on that front.
Then, it seemed as the frontrunner for the position was Sporting Club manager Ruben Amorim, who allegedly had the backing of soon-to-be-announced new Sporting Director at PSG, Luis Campos. After that, the name of José Mourinho came up, although sources were quick to point out the Portuguese manager was happy at AS Roma and wouldn't be open to a move.
Now, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano, it's OGC Nice manager Christophe Galtier. The former Lille manager was actually the mastermind behind the team that beat Pochettino's PSG to the Ligue 1 title in 2020-21, and has shown he can develop an attractive and fun style of football. However, according to Romano, there have been no contacts between mananger and club, and the first step would be to announce the arrival of Luis Campos and bid farewell to Pochettino.
