RIGHT PLACE, RIGHT TIME? Arsenal goes all out for Barça-bound Raphinha
The Gunners are more and more active in the market and this is their latest move
The past few days have been very active for Arsenal in the transfer market. Starting slow, with very few names going around, it seems now Sporting Director Edu Gaspar and Manager Mikel Arteta have entered their flow. Having closed down the signing of young Brazilian Marquinhos, goalkeeper Matt Turner and Porto's Fábio Vieira, now there's another name ringing louder and louder, although the would come from a bit closer to home: Raphinha.

The Leeds United star has been on the sights of several clubs, with the former Stade Rennais man showing over two seasons with the Whites under Marcelo Bielsa and then Jesse Marsch that he can cut it with the best in the English top tier. With him sounding ever more likely for a move to Barcelona, now it seems that he might not even have to catch a flight to take him to his new club.
That's because according to UK newspaper The Times, Arsenal are set to make a £50 million offer for the player, a figure close to that which was reportedly "enough" to seal his move to Barcelona. The move, however, is far from done. Not only do Arsenal face extra competition in the shape of North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur, but they may also have some convincing to do.
As reported by The Times, Leeds would prefer a figure closer to £65 million to let the player move to a Premier League rival, and Raphinha is said to favour a move to Barcelona. However, the Spanish outfit is struggling to close down deals for other players, so it could be the case of Arsenal being at the right place and the right time.

Raphinha closed the season with 11 goals and 3 assists for the relegation threatened Leeds United, although he showed he was more than capable of performing at the high level during the 2020-21 season where he took the league by storm, finishing with 8 goals and 11 assists.
