In the sight of giants: RB Leipzig looking to keep Dani Olmo and Nkunku
The German club is aware that the top European clubs are chasing two of their best players and are looking to lock their contracts up before losing them on the cheap
Dani Olmo and Christopher Nkunku are two of the hottest names in football right now. The Spaniard was brilliant for his national team on the Euro 2020 while the French forward was just selected as the player of the season in the Bundesliga.
Knowing this, RB Leipzig (the club for which both of them play) are aware that the top European clubs will jump at the opportunity to take them on, particularly if it comes at a discount over an expiring contract, or worse even, on a free transfer, and they're not willing to let that happen.
That's why, according to German sports magazine Kicker, Die Roten Bullen will be looking to extend their contracts past their current 2024 expiration date. Other reports, this time by Sport Bild, suggest Nkunku's deal will be automatically extended as a consecuence of Leipzig's qualification to the UEFA Champions League.
Olmo has 16 goals in 91 matches for Leipzig, and is allegedly on the sights of Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid. On the other hand, Nkunku has 46 goals in 135 matches, and is supposedly being chased by Manchester United, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint Germain.
