Carlo Ancelotti is very worried about what will happen with his Real Madrid side after the Qatar 2022 World Cup. Los Blancos are flying high for now, still to drop points in LaLiga or the Champions League and fresh off a win at the Madrid Derby, but the experienced Italian coach knows things can't go on this well for long.

That's because Ancelotti knows that come November he will lose more than half of the squad due to the call-ups of the different teams for the World Cup in Qatar. That's half the squad that won't get any rest in an already tightly packed season for the Champions League defending winners.

"What has gone well at the start of the season is that the squad is very competitive even without Karim, who is the most important player. Afterwards, there are clearly some things that can be improved, this is quite normal. But the reality is that I couldn't ask for more from this team", explained Ancelotti after their 2-1 at the Estadio Metropolitano, which sees los Blancos stay at the top of the LaLiga table on 18 points, two ahead of Barcelona.

Many worried if the Merengue team was going to be able to keep their level after Karim Benzema when down with an injury after their Champions League opener against Celtic, but the Italian manager is happy with how the team responded: "The team has replaced Karim well. In these games we have done well, everyone who has played in that position has done well. Today Rodrygo scored a spectacular goal".

Still, Carlo Ancelotti knows that competition is bound to get tight, with the World Cup coming up: "Barcelona is doing very well, so are we, Atlético hasn't started well... but this is very strange season and you don't know what could happen after the World Cup. It will be a more competitive league than last year".
