"You can't replace him": Legend pays TRIBUTE to Karim Benzema
A two-time European champion spoke about the importance of the Frenchman for the Spanish giants
Karim Benzema is living a second springtime in his career. Unleashed after Cristiano Ronaldo departed Real Madrid, the Frenchman has transformed into the most important player for Los Blancos, and led them in many iconic European nights, becoming a symbol of Real Madrid pride, and no one is more aware of this than Owen Hargreaves.
"I think the great players rise to these occasions. Benzema, whenever they've needed him to have a big moment, him and Vinicius Junior have produced", insisted the former Bayern Munich and Manchester United midfielder about the Frenchman.
With his
UEFA Super Cup goal
against Eintracht Frankfurt the Frenchman reached 324 hits for the Spanish giants, putting him now one goal ahead of Real Madrid great Raul and is the second-highest scorer in history only behind his former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo.
"It's just the awareness, the experience that he has at 34", explained Hargreaves. "He's irreplaceable, but I think the thing about Benzema is he's not going to rely on his physicality because he's not super powerful so I think he's going to age well. He's not going to worry about making these big runs because he's always been a smart player, so in that sense I think he probably still has another couple of years at the top level".
""I don't think you can [replace him], Benzema. They tried with Mbappe, he's going to be hard to replace because there isn't another one out there", closed down his case Hargreaves. It's truly a golden age for Real Madrid, and Karim Benzema is leading it this time.
