YOUNG TALENT: Real Madrid following another Brazilian wonderkid
The Spanish giants are working on a deal to get another of Brazil's top young talents
Brazil is a constant factory of young talents. No matter when you look at the league, there's always some wonderkid ready to blow minds away. Some end up being the likes of Ronaldo Nazario or Neymar, others resemble more the likes of Robinho or Kleberson, but they all show immense promise as youngsters. The next on that seemingly eternal production line of footballers is Botafogo's Matheus Nascimiento... and Real Madrid are already on to him.
The connection between young South American talent and Los Blancos has been stronger than ever lately, with the signing of the likes of Vinicius, Rodrygo and Federico Valverde, and the Madrid club is profiting from it. Now, Spanish newspaper AS is reporting that Juni Calafat, the scout who worked on those three deals has another recommendation for Florentino Perez: Matheus Nascimiento.
The young 18 year old plays currently for youth club Botafogo, one of the most storied clubs in Brazilian football. He may be young, but he's slowly breaking into the Botafogo first team. He played 8 games and got his first professional goal last season. Now, he's played 18 matches so far, scoring 7 goals and providing one assist.
In terms of style, he's a tall and fast striker, with good technique and vision and creativity to combine with the wingers and midfielders, which means he's seen as a potential heir to Karim Benzema in Madrid. That, however, would be some years down the line, as according to AS the plan is for Matheus Nascimiento to join the Real Madrid Castilla, B squad to the Merengue club, and adapt to European football.
It is unclear yet how much Real Madrid would have to pay to adquire the services of the young Brazilian, although his contract has a 50 million euros release clause.
