"He's untouchable": Rudiger's AMAZING anecdote about joining Real Madrid
The German has made a quick adaptation to life at Real Madrid and he's got one man to thank
Antonio Rudiger spoke about the keys to his good start to life at Real Madrid. The German centreback joined los Blancos from Chelsea this summer and he has made an instant impact in the squad. The Merengue team is flying high, yet to drop points across all competitions, and Rudiger is pinning that success on one man in particular, his boss Carlo Ancelotti.
The former Stuttgart man spoke with German TV network Sport1 about his initial months at the Santiago Bernabeu, and his mind is clear about it: "The results are adjusting, we are having a lot of fun as a team and I have adapted very well. To be honest, never has a team made my path so easy immediately".
"I had only been in our new house for a few hours with my family, we were having a barbecue, until suddenly the doorbell rang. I opened it and in front of me was Carlo Ancelotti. I was amazed", said Rudiger, recounting his very first moments under the Italian "He sat at our table, ate with us and he met my family. Very normal, very realistic. He was there for two hours and we talked about everything".
According to Rudiger, having Ancelotti's support made his transition into los Blancos much easier. "I had never experienced anything like this, no coach had ever done anything like this for me. After a few months with him, I have to say that when it's about dealing with players, Ancelotti is untouchable", explained the German. "Don Carlo, a coaching legend, was already collecting Champions League titles when I was a kid. Working with him every day at the most successful club in the world is wonderful".
It hasn't been all about Ancelotti, however, as Rudiger has been quite impressed with the Real Madrid fans as well. "Everything quiet for a long time, it's silent for a long time, but then there comes that moment that shakes the stadium and freezes the opponent", said the German about playing at the Santiago Bernabeu, "The fans here have a very good understanding of football and they know exactly when they have to be there for the team".
Simply put, Antonio Rudiger is enthralled by the feeling of playing at Real Madrid: "The strength of the club is huge. From the outside you can more or less imagine it, but experiencing it yourself is something completely different. It's all about winning here. There is no other option. When I look at guys like Luka, Toni or Karim, they are so deeply relaxed that for them even a final is the most normal thing in the world".
