The clock is ticking as Real Madrid STRUGGLE to find Benzema understudy
Los Blancos need an alternative to the central striker position, but their options are limited and their time is running out
You'd think that if any club in the world would have no problems getting a signing over the line, it would be Real Madrid. However, the Mbappé saga proved even Los Blancos's power ends somewhere, and now they could be in a bit of a pickle.
Signing their next centreforward is proving to be challenging for Real Madrid. No further moves were expected after Carlo Ancelotti declared their window dealings done; however, higher ups at the champions of Europe made the decision to enter the market once again.

Pre-season showed that they need an understudy to Karim Benzema, so the Merengues are moving around, in an effort to strengthen the centre of the attack, but the choices they had in their portfolio have either escaped or getting difficult to get.
In early July, Arsenal completed the signing of Gabriel Jesus, the only striker who had was greenlighted by Ancelotti; since then, things have been going wrong. Their next target, Timo Werner, would rather return to RB Leipzig on loan than join Real Madrid to fill in for Karim Benzema, as he's looking for a starter role to put himself in the plans of Germany manager Hansi Flick for Qatar 2022.

Meanwhile, Manchester United are moving forward with the signing of another of the Real Madrid targets, RB Salzburg's Benjamin Sesko. In an effort to outbid Chelsea and Los Blancos, the Red Devils met with Elivs Basanovic, the young striker's agent, and they are ready to spend the 50 million euros that the Austrian club has estimated they'll want to allow Sesko's departure this summer. With fewer and fewer options on the table each day, the clock is ticking for Real Madrid.
