Manchester City STAR on the VERGE of signing a NEW CONTRACT
One of the Premier League's best will be staying in the English league for the coming years
Manchester City have been on a bit of a garage sale, with the likes of Gabriel Jesus and Fernandinho already out the door, while the likes of Raheem Sterling and Bernardo Silva could also depart the Etihad Stadium. However, it looks like there's one player Pep Guardiola is keen on keeping, and that's Riyad Mahrez.
The Algerian star is coming off a terrific season for the Sky Blues, as he scored 24 and assisted 9 in 42 matches for Pep Guardiola's side the past season. All that work is now bound to get it's just rewards, and that may come in form of a new contract. The former Leicester City star has just one year on his deal, but that could be changing very soon.
According to French newspaper L'Equipe, Mahrez would be on the verge of signing a new deal, taking his stay at the blue half of Manchester until 2025. There are no news on potential figures, but Mahrez current deal is at around £120,000 per week.
It was reported that the Algerian was chased by Paris Saint Germain as a potential replacement for the departing Ángel Di María, although this new contract is bound to close down that door. Riyad Mahrez joined Manchester City in 2018, where he has scored 63 goals and added 46 assists in 189 games across all competitions, as well as winning three Premier League titles (to add to the one he won at Leicester City), the 2019 FA Cup and three EFL Cups.
