Mourinho and AS Roma going after Premier League young star
Roma wants to be back on the biggest stages of European football and look to England for reinforcements
José Mourinho and AS Roma made history when they won the UEFA Conference League. For Mourinho, it was a fifth European title, and it made him the first coach to win the Champions League, the Europe League (or UEFA Cup) and the Conference League. For Roma, it was a first European title in more than 50 years.
Now, manager and team are looking into the next season, aiming to better the team to challenge for even more silverware and a return to Europe's elite. One of their main targets, according to Sky Italia, is one of the top Premier League young stars: Brighton and Hove Albion's Yves Bissouma.
The 25 year old midfielder, who was born in the Ivory Coast but represent Mali internationally, has been one of the English club's most interesting players since arriving in 2018 from Lille.
However, it won't be easy sailing for the Italian club. According to journalist Gianluigi Longari, Bissouma, who's currently valued at around 35 million euros, could prove too expensive for AS Roma to go after.
Bissouma is a great presence defensively in the middle of the park, with his tackling and intercepting ability standing out, as well as his capacity to carry the ball forwards. He has featured in 124 games for Brighton since 2018, scoring 6 goals and providing 3 assists while also becoming a key piece of Graham Potter's team.
