"He's RUINING his legacy": Manchester United fans FURIOUS with Ronaldo
The Red Devils faithful exploded against the Portuguese star following his latest controversy
Cristiano Ronaldo has come under fire from Manchester United supporters for storming down the tunnel before the end of the match against Tottenham. While the Red Devils were wrapping up one of the most important victories of the Erik ten Hag era, the Portuguese stormed off and now fans have taken to social media to express their anger against him, with many pointing out that his actions have tarnished his legacy at the team.
Erik ten Hag's team dominated Tottenham and won 2-0 at Old Trafford, but Cristiano Ronaldo wasn't thrilled about it. The Portuguese star was on the bench and when he realized the Dutch coach wasn't going to bring him on he exited the dugout before the final whistle blew in spectacular fashion.
After the game, manager Erik ten Hag chose not to make a big deal out of it, speaking with Amazon Prime Video: "I don't pay attention to that. I have seen him, I will deal with that tomorrow, not today. We are celebrating this victory and we have to recover from this for Saturday". Fans, however, did not allow Ronaldo such room.
"Ronaldo is a disgrace 37 years of age and storming off like a petulant child", pointed out one of the United faithful, while other commented that "Ronaldo should leave Manchester United for the sake of himself, his legacy and the club too".
In fact, the issue of how these kinds of incidents will impact Ronaldo's legacy at Old Trafford was one of the main talking points. "Ronaldo is spoiling his reputation with United he is a legend but it now tarnished and that's the sad thing what will he be remembered for by young fans", wrote another Manchester United fan, and there is a point to it. Without memories of his exploits during the Sir Alex Ferguson era, the image current fans have of Cristiano Ronaldo is that of a selfish, somewhat underperforming star.
