MONCHI'S AFTER HIM: Sevilla chasing brilliant French prospect
After losing one of their stalwarts, the Spanish club is looking for a potential replacement and they've eyed this French prospect
Many will call it a farmer's league and question Kylian Mbappé's ambition by refusing a move to another league, but it's unquestionable that Ligue 1 is one of (if not the) biggest talent factories in the world. Names like Eduardo Camavinga, Maxence Caqueret, Boubacar Kamara or Aurélien Tchouaméni have all come from France's top tier. You can add Benoît Badiashile to that list, although very soon he may not be playing in Ligue 1.
That's because, according to French radio RMC, one of the top clubs in Spain is coming after him. Sevilla FC is a club that's been succesful in Europe, and that has a knack for finding cheap, young talent and selling it for a fortune, and they're are looking at Badiashile.
The Spanish club recently lost one of their defensive stalwarts in Brazilian Diego Carlos and apparently are looking at AS Monaco's Badiashile as a potential replacement. According to RMC, Sevilla Sporting Director Monchi has already had meetings with the French club over the 21 year old centreback and will be making an official offer soon.
It's worth pointing out that Badiashile is returning from an injury that kept his minutes last season rather limited, but the young centreback appears to be in good form, reason why Monaco rejected an offer of 40 million euros from Newcastle United.
Having just sold Aurelién Tchouaméni to Real Madrid for 100 million, it's unlikely the French side are in any rush to sell, so it may be a long negotiation before we see Badiashile in Sevilla colours.
