Lopetegui has only just left but Sevilla already have their new coach
The Spanish side wasted no time in getting their affairs in order after the departure of Julen Lopetegui
The ink on Julen Lopetegui's dismissal isn't dry yet, but Sevilla have already found his replacement: Jorge Sampaoli. The Argentine arrived in the Andalusian capital early on Thursday afternoon and from he's expected to take charge of his first training session later the very same day.
In fact, while the club was bidding farewell to the Spaniard, Sampaoli and the rest of his staff was just some 150 meters from the Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán, at a hotel, preparing for what will be his second stint at the helm of Sevilla.
The sixty two year old coach has only spent a few months away from football, after departing Olympique Marseille at the end of last season, reportedly due to differences with the club's board. The during his first (and only) full season at the helm of the French side, Sampaoli managed to finish runner-up in the Ligue 1, achieving qualification for the UEFA Champions League.
As previously mentioned, this will be Jorge Sampaoli's second try at Sevilla job, a team he already coached during the 2016-17 season, achieving fourth place. Things did not end well last time around, however, as the second half of the season was plagued with rumours that the Argentine couldn't wait to pack his bags at the end of the campaign to take charge of the Argentinian National Team.
