Manchester United confirms the FIRST SIGNING of the TEN HAG ERA
Despite many names going around, the first Manchester United signing of the season will be an unexpected one
The honour won't go to Frenkie de Jong, nor will it go to Matthjis de Ligt, Antony or any of the current or former Ajax players that have been linked with a move to Old Trafford. In fact, the very first player to join the Erik ten Hag era at Manchester United will come from Ajax' eternal rivals, Feyenoord.
That's because the Red Devils are set to confirm the signing of Tyrell Malacia from the Rotterdam club, in a move that went through in record time. Just a few days ago, it seemed like Malacia was set to become a Olympique de Lyon player, but United swooped in and made the arrangements to sign the player, offering better terms than the French outfit.
Now, Malacia has been announced as a Manchester United player by journalist Fabrizio Romano, with the official announcement reportedly coming very soon. With the clubs having come to an agreement over the fee, with a €15m plus €2m add-ons bid for the player, it was up to Malacia to decide where he wanted to continue his career, as Feyenoord director (and former Ajax player) Frank Arnesen. It seems his choice was Manchester United.
The Dutch player will sing a four year deal with the Red Devils, with an option for a fifth. Feyenoord will also retain a percentage of his sell-on value, should Malacia move from Manchester United in the coming seasons.
Tyrell Malacia can play all along the left flank, although he moves mainly as a left back. Pacey and smart, he's is known for his dribbling ability and passing skills. Last year he became an absolute international with the Dutch National Team, after having played with all levels from Under 16 through to the under 21.
