HOW MUCH? Borussia Dortmund wonderkid wants a crazy deal
The young star wants a top salary but the figures are looking ridiculous
He was in the mouth of every sports journalist and every football fan when he was scoring like crazy as a 13-year-old in the Under 17 Bundesliga, and things got even more unbelievable when he became the youngest ever player in Bundesliga history in November 2020.
Things have since slowed down a bit for Youssoufa Moukoko. Injuries and sub-par performances have perhaps dampened what at one point seemed like a career unlike anything we had seen before. However, the Cameroon-born striker is still just 17 years old, so there's every chance he will end up fulfilling all that early promise.
Perhaps thats the reason for which, according to German newspaper WAZ, Moukoko is asking for record wages to renew his contract with Borussia Dortmund. The report by WAZ says the young wonderkid wants a wage that would make him one of the best paid players in the squad.
While there are no figures reported, for context, Borussia Dortmund's currently best-paid player is Marco Reus, who is on an annual wage of almost 13 million euros. Should Moukoko be asking for even half that figure, that would make him a better paid player than England international Jadon Sancho was during his Borussia Dortmund days.
According to WAZ, the club is under no intention of paying such wages to any young player, no matter how promising, which means that, should Moukoko not temper his expectations, he'd be leaving on a free transfer the following season, as he only has one season remaining on his deal.
