With the Mauricio Pochettino era at the Parc des Princes set to end soon, with rumours being that the Argentine would be dismissed in the coming days, there's a lot of speculation as to who would be getting his seat.
Sporting Director Luis Campos already has a favourite for the PSG job
In the past days, it had been reported that Sporting Club manager Ruben Amorim was the main choice for the position, with the 37 year old Portuguese coach being the favourite of Paris Saint-Germain director Luis Campos. However, it's now looking like there's another twist to this story.
French journalist Fabrice Hawkins is now reporting that none other than former Zinedine Zidane has emerged as a strong candidate for the job. His main backing would come from no other than Emir of Qatar, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
According to Hawkings, he's the one and only target for the Emir, who through the Qatari state controls Qatar Investment Authority, of which Qatar Sports Investments, the company that owns PSG, is a subsidiary. However, it seems there's still some ground to cover, as apparently there are doubts inside the club as to how well a duo of Zidane and Campos could work.
Zidane is now back again in contention for the PSG job
Zidane's only job in management so far has been with Real Madrid, where he coached in two stints from 2016 to 2018, and then from 2019 to 2021, winning LaLiga in 2016-17 and 2019-20 and the UEFA Champions League in 2015-16, 2016-17 and 2017-18, among other trophies.
