ALL OVER? Zidane gives his final NO to PSG... for now

The story linking the former Real Madrid manager with the Parisian club has had many ups and downs, but it seems this time it's final... for now

Total surprise in France. According to newsoutlet RMC Sport, Zinedine Zidane has told Paris Saint Germain that he does not want to be the team's manager for the coming season. The French legend is allegedly focused exclusively on being the next coach of the French National Team, and that could happen just after the World Cup in Qatar, as it is rumoured Didier Deschamps would step aside.

"Zidane will not come this summer but PSG has not thrown in the towel" is the title with which the RMC Sport note opens. They add that Zidane has been "courted by the highest officials of Qatar for the position of Paris Saint-Germain coach to replace Mauricio Pochettino" and that "Zinedine Zidane will not sit on the Parisian bench this time". According to RMC Sport, "[Zidane has] ultimately remained on his main objective, which has driven him since the very moment he became a coach: the French team. His main goal is to become coach of the France National Team".

For the French media outlet, this is the true end of a saga that has already been going on for several weeks. It is not the first time, however, that Zidane's rejection for the PSG bench has been reported and then positively related again.

Despite this resounding "NO", French media assures that it could happen at some point: "But everything remains open for the future. Despite the barely concealed dream of the owners of the club in the French capital and their desire to offer Zizou a great deal of leeway in the overall management of the team".

In this sense and with Zinedine Zidane out, the main candidate to train PSG remains Christophe Galtier, the current manager of OGC Nice, who could live the club very soon. Galtier has a great track record, that includes the 2020-21 Ligue 1 title with Lille, considered a feat in these times of PSG dominance. For Galtier to be released of his contract with Nice, the team from the southern French coast is allegedly asking for about 3 million euros.
